Magic and the Night River
Could you live in a world where if you wanted to eat dinner you had to go out on a boat and fish for it? Well in the story of “Magic and the Night River” written by Eve Bunting, That is what Yoshi and his Grandfather had to do. The story “Magic and the Night River” is a comedy. The main character Yoshi is a great person and did a good deed. There was also an important lesson learned.
The story “Magic and the Night River” is a comedy. It is a comedy because it starts off in normalcy when Grandfather, Yoshi and his cousins go fishing for food. Then it goes into the conflict arises when Yoshi talks to Kano and Kano threatens him saying that he will do “a close count tonight” otherwise he would replace Grandfather if he does not bring back enough fish. The main character realizes conflict when all of the birds got tangled up and broke away. The resolution occurs when all of the birds come back and finish their job collecting fish. Then the return to normalcy is when they return back with lots of fish and all of the birds and Kano is happy.
The main character of this story is Yoshi. Yoshi cares a lot about Grandfather and the last thing he wants is for Grandfather to get replaced and not be able to go back and fish. So Yoshi learned how to handle the birds and went to go help his Grandfather get lots of fish. From Yoshi helping his Grandfather not only did he do a good deed but he allowed his Grandfather to comeback and fish. That shows that Yoshi is kind and caring and that he is a good person.
There was also an important lesson learned in this story. I think that the lesson learned was that doing good deeds and being kind and helpful to others is a good thing. Another important lesson learned was that if you do good for someone else something good will happen to you in return. I think that that something good happening in return to Yoshi was that the birds came back to him and finished their job.
The story “Magic and the Night River” is a comedy written by Eve Bunting, Yoshi the main character was a great person to his Grandfather. There were also important lessons learned in this story. So in the end Yoshi did a good deed helping his Grandfather and the cormorants came back.
My Reflection On "The Lie"
The story "The Lie" is about a boy who lies to his parents about getting into his family traditions school… This story is a comedy written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. The purpose of this story was that lying is bad. "The Lie" is also realistic.
"The Lie" is a comedy. "The Lie" is a comedy because it starts off in Normalcy. It starts off in Normalcy when Eli applies for his family tradition's school. It is a family tradition because everyone in his family went to that school. The conflict arises when Eli gets the letter from the school saying he didn't make it. The main character realizes conflict when his family goes to this back to school dinner meeting. The resolution occurs when Eli's mom goes to find him. The return to normalcy is when Eli's dad apologizes.
I believe that the main purpose of this story was that lying is bad. When you lie it can never lead to something good. Most importantly it can get you into all kinds of trouble with you parents or whoever you lie to. So the purpose of this story was that lying is bad.
This story "The Lie" can relate to real life because it is realistic. This story is realistic because any kid could lie to their parents. Any kid could not make it into a school. They would all most likely be mad if there/your dad tried to convince the board to change their mind and forget that you failed the tests and to just let you in… There for all of these reasons are realistic.
The story "The Lie" Is a Comedy written by: Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. "The Lie" was also a realistic story because everything that Eli did any normal kid would have probably do the same. The purpose of "The Lie" was to teach kids and/or adults that Lying is bad and it can never lead to something good. So don't lie.
