Things you would need to know about 8th grade Language Arts....

You should do your work when given and don't procrastinate; You will wind up forgetting.

Reflection on Essays and stories

Since last year i have had a weakness of summarizing the story; my goal for a long time was to not summarize. I finally achieved that goal. I learned to write about the symbols or a character or the lesson of the story. All the little things that you can pull out of the story to write about. I think my new goal would be to advance my word choice for my stories or essays and learn to write a better thesis.

My other goal is when i get the assignment to write an essay to go ahead and do it right away so i first off don't forget about it and second so its done and i can keep going back to it if i think of something or so i can go back and proof read it or edit it. I have never been really good at writing but i still want to improve and do better.

John Smith Responce.

The theme is to show how all of these guys named john brown are all at diffrent ages and how their lives can relate and be difffrent.
We watched this show because is shhows how similuar other people's lives can be and they dont always have the same name.

They were all alike in manyways, They way the mom described her son or the dad on the baby john smith decribed that thanksgiving dinner and to see that that moment actully was happening, Was amazing.

They were diffrent because one of the john smiths was into drugs another lost his mom. Another had his son in the military some have childern others dont they are all diffrent ages and are going through diffrent experiences in their own life.

Life experiences that we all share are losing a loved one, haveing childeren when we get there, Some people might have problems with drugs and others might have lost there job or not gotten the job they wanted.

Ice Cream Social: Review

Well one of the few things i am afraid of is Freshman kill day. Last year people went around the the stickiest things they could find; Pancake batter, syrup, and old milk. Gross. I do not want that happening this year. I am also nervous of finding my classes on time. Or How the learning will be different in the high school. I am excited for cheer leading to start. Thats my main sport that i enjoy.

Cythinia's Point of View

Okay well you see, everyone thinks I'm naturally talented and that i don't practice for anything. When really i lied. In stead of going home and playing handball and watching television like i always say i do; I'm really hat home studying or practicing the piano. Sometimes i feel bad for the way i act around the other girls, I'm just trying to impress them. Then you have squeaky, She has this brother who gets picked on alot so she is always standing up for him, she is also a runner and has alot of courage. Gretchen is the one who picks on Raymond (squeaky's bother) the most. She is always my competition for the spelling bee and squeaky's competition for the race.

Journal: Free Write

Well, Cheer leading tryouts are coming up, and I'm really nervous. Making this team means so much to me. I don't want to just make any team i want to make Varsity. If i don't make Varsity i will still work hard so that i can make it next year.

Journal:How will you be remembered?

I am not exactly sure how i will go down so to speak in history. I do think that yes i do have compleate control over how i am remembered. Yes, i will remember this school 10 years from now, or at least i hope i do. I think that others will remember me as this nice girl... haha i dont really know how people will remember me. But i hope it is in a possitive way.

Journal: What did you learn aout the Civil War?

1. One cause of the Civil War is the south fighting for their rights. They did not like what Abraham Lincoln was doing or saying while most of the North did. 2. The John Brown Raid was an important battle. It caused the Civil War because that raid/ battle was caused by or about slavery. The North did not want slavery and the south did. 3. Robert E. Lee made a huge impact on history. He was against slavery yet fought for the south because that's his home land and he didn't want to go agents it. Robert was in so many positions and leader spots through out his time, He also had a school named after him, He was wanted at president but said no. Robert said no to allot of high power positions because he didn't want to be remembered as that.

Journal: Reflection

Yes, I do think i used my class time wisely. I think i should have stated writing a day earlier.

I found finding the notes and information was easy about this assignment.

I found putting all of the information together and finding how to word every thing was the most challenging.

I think i could have maybe talked about Robert E. Lee more as a child and growing up like more of his background then all of this stuff about the Civil War. I think that would have made my story a little more interesting.

Jourmal: Interview

Reporter: So Robert What was it like always having to leave your family and loved ones to go fight in the war?

Robert: It was difficult at times but they were great and supported me.

Reporter: Ahh Yes i understand; Robert Did you have any doubts during the war?

Robert: Well we did have fewer men fighting than the North but i believed that even with fewer men we could still beat the North.

Reporter: That is great to hear; So how long were you expecting this war to last?

Robert: Um i think that both sides knew that the war would end quickly.

Reporter: Okay cool! Thanks for you time!

Robert: Yep no problem.

Grades Grades and more Grades.

I wake up every morning wondering how to keep my grades where they are at so i am able to go on the six flags trip at the end of the year. So i study for my tests. I work hard, I get my homework done but sometimes you make that one or two little mistakes and all of the sudden you grades drop so you work real hard to get them up and the more i work the more my grade goes up. I think i can make it to the six flags trip.

Oh the play last night was a lot of fun, Allot of people forgot their lines. One person (the doctor) forgot that she was supposed to be on stage so while i went to find her, Sam (the king) had to stall. So he was like skin as white as snow what? Why not as tan as sand or something along toughs lines, Then he said i think the paramedics are on their way. He did great last night was a good performance tonight should be better hopefully. I my self was a little nervous. I am the young queen. I was so scared to be up on stage knowing that i knew a lot of people in the audience. Yet after the show i got a lot of great jobs and you did great. I don't think i will be as nervous tonight.

You guys will never get away with this! Yes, we will slaves will always be in the north! You wouldnt want to be treated this this way, These people are not supposed to serve you they are supposed to be let free to live their own lives! Guns are being fired. We will see about that.

Journal: Stream Of Consciousness

Things are intense, Guns are being shot, People are dieing, Wheres my family? They better be okay and safe. Oh i wish i was there to protect them. It will all be over soon i hope. We are going to win this battle. There will be no more slaves allowed in the South or any where else. It will be like the North a nice place where people help everyone. Why don't these other people want that. These people need to realize that slaves are not a good ting. They are people to, And i will change that. THERE WILL BE NO MORE SLAVES!! The thought of that gives me confidence and the thought of me dieing and the thought of them winning scares me; yet i wont let it happen. I will fight till this is over i will fight till all of the Slaves are free!!

Journal: Historical Fiction

I think that the main point of my book would be to teach us about the life of Robert E Lee and how he lived through the Civil War. I think it will show and tell me about the people he was friends with and where he was from. Basically it is just telling me about his life in the civil war.

I have thought about my story a little bit, i think i want to have Robert E Lee telling the story from his point of view. I would have him share first a little background about him then go into how his life was in the Civil War.

Motivations

I think that there are many things in life that can motivate you. For some people it is money and for others it could be love. But for me its helping others or trying to do good. I like to always try and put others before my self. I always share; i always give.

When i get older or as i get older and get a job i would like to find a good cherity that i like and tha i have researched enough about to know its not fake and just wants money. I would want to find one that actully means something to me and i would donate what i could to the cause.

Its hard for me to stand up for my self and actully say no to someone. If someone asks me to do something i will most likely always say yes, within reason. I am a very giving person with a huge heart. I cant just say no to someone because then i feel bad. SO when ever my aunt asks me to babysit. I always say yes even if i wanted to go practice tumbeling and stunting at an open gym to get ready for my cheerleading tryouts. I always skip that and go and baby sit. I have givine up that time a good 3-4 times now.

Back on the topic of Motivations. Helping others and doing good is just my motivation. To others it could be love. I know that my little 4 year old cousin, her motivation is Justin Bieber. To get her to finish her dinner you bring Justin Bieber up. Like Do it for Justin im sure he would be proud of you and she will finish it all. Or going to bed, Justin is going to sleep to; and she will fall asleep. Other peoples motivation could be love or money. Yet there are so many more motivations out there.

Fighting?

I dont think that it is every really nessecary to fuight. Although we all do it anyway. Weather its with you friends or family it will happen sometimes. Personally my self i cant stand fighting. If my brothers get in a fight i will either break it up or i will wzalk away. Between all of my friends there has been alot of rumors spread all on what he sai she said. I find it annoying and try and fix things with everyone. One reason why im so nice to everyone is because i dont want to fight. Even if its not my fault i will apologize. Now there are difrent types of fighing there is fighting for something you beilive in and there is fighting like yelling back and forth and there is fighting like hitting or punching. I think that if there were something that i would fight for would be, i would fight for our seats back. I dont really like the seating chart. But i wont make a big deal about it. I'll have respect for it and just see where it goes. SO thats kind of my opinion on fighting.

Does Everyone Have Free Will?

I think that everyone does have freedom but in their own ways. Everyine has freedom of speach. No one really has freedom for actions. You cant go out and kill someone and expect to get away with it. You cant punch or hit someone and ecpect not to get introuble. The amount of freedom you have all depends on how much respect you have. If you respect people enough not to hit someone and if you respect people enough to use good language then i think your good, But yes ido think that everyone has freedom of seach.

School

If i could change three things in our school i would have it start at 10:00 am. I would have it so we can pick who is in our class based on all of the students who have that class. I would also still have it end at 2:45 and i would let the 8th graders get to pick who is in their resource. i would also make a no pass system. So you just say like hey i need to go work with so and so and then you can just go. I do think thata students will still be able to get through high school with these changes. If the students can still be responsiable and work than why not. Other wise if you dont and choose to goof off the whole time we will just move you out of that class an into the other with none of your friends in it. I would make these changes because i do have a class where i have none of my friends in it. I would change the time because im to tired to be getting up at 6, i would rather get up at 9 and be at school by 10. I would say no passes because there are times i would want and or need to go somewhere but i dont have a apass to go therefore im stuck in my resource not filling that task i should have been doing. So that is what i would change in our school and i still do think that you could get through highschool if these changes were made.

New York Times Journal: Ipad 2

Seeing how crazy apple is getting with comeing out with a new thing every few months. People all over the world are like whoa thats cool i got to have that. I have the first generation of the Ipad. I think that it is just as good as the new Ipad 2. Maybe the Ipad 2 can do a a little more but thats okay. Mine works for the reasons i need it or want it to. I would have to say that apple is a very sucessful compony and knows how to draw attention to there products.

Reflection

Standing up infornt of the class was okay. I think that the class should have been a little more understanding... Standing up there i felt like i was just being atacked. Like no one would let up or try to understand why we thought what we thought. I guess everyone has their own opinion and i cant make them think any diffrent. I wouldnt want to do that again.

A day like today

On a day like today i want to be at home sleeping. On a day like today i want to be watching tv. On a day like today i want to lay with my puppy. On a day like today i want to be with friends. On a day like today i dont want to be typeing. On a day like today i dont want to be learning. A day like today should be nothing but relaxing. Today is a rainyday. Its dark out side and gloomy. A perfect day that makes you want to sleep in late. On a day like today its time for me to say Good Night.

Can human beings truley be equal?

Yes, I do think that human beings can be equal. I dont think like exactly equal like on looks and what you have but as a person sure. No racisim here, Black and white people are and should be treated equal. We are all human and there is no reason why one person should be more important than the other. That goes for celeberties. Just because they have a tallent doesnt mean they are anymore important than us. Maybe our talent is math or science. Does that make us more special or better than anyone else. No, therefore human beings can be treated equal.

Super Powers

If i could have one super power it would be the ability to fly. I could fly my self to school or to my friends house, movies,mall and soo much more... I wouldnt be poluting the earth by driving a car. I would be saving money because I wouldnt have to pay for gas. The abuility to fly would be amazing!!!

Respect

There is a thing in this world that means allot to everyone. That is called respect. You as a teen/young adult/child, must respect your elders or the people older than you. That means adults who work at the place you may be at, that means your teachers, and most importantly you friends and family. You should not only show respect to your elders, but to you friends, younger sibling or cousins. I have 2 little cousins who look up to me and have respect for me. I see them almost every week, they are like my two little sisters i never had. Autumn is 5 and Edyn is 4. When they were little im talking a few months old i was the only one who could keep them calm. We were at a family Christmas party and autumn started crying so her mom (my aunt) tried to hold her and calm her down then my mom tried, nothing. They gave her to me and within in a few minuets she was falling asleep. I am like a little kid magnet. This was like 3 months ago but we had a block party at my moms boy friend at the time (now they are getting married) neighborhood. They had a bouncy house, so i went in and jumped for a little then i started playing with this little boy Liam. We played this game where he would imagine something for me to be like an alien is what he had me be first and he would run away and i would try and tickle him. Then a few more kids joined in and 2 more and 2 more until i had about 15 kids playing this game. I was a teddy bear, i was pancakes, i was a bird, i was a hot dog,i was a train and so many more. I went back to my house to get a drink and all the kids followed and screamed for me out side of my house... They didn't call me Kayla the called me "The teenager". Now i baby sit for half of the kids. So back on the topic of respect. Respect is the key thing you need in life. It will help you with everything you do or want to do... Remember Respect.
