My Reflection On "The Lie"

My Reflection On "The Lie"

The story "The Lie" is about a boy who lies to his parents about getting into the prestigious school that was a tradition for his family to attend. This story is a comedy written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. The purpose of this realistic story is that lying is bad.
To begin with "The Lie" is a comedy, it starts off in normalcy. It starts off in normalcy when Eli applies for Whitehill preparatory school. It is a family tradition because everyone in his family went to that school. The conflict arises when Eli gets the letter from the school saying he didn't make it. The main character realizes conflict when his family goes to this back to school dinner meeting. The resolution occurs when Eli's mom goes to find him. The return to normalcy is when Eli's dad walks away mad.
Equally important the main purpose of this story is that lying is bad. When you lie it can never lead to something good. Most importantly it can get you into all kinds of trouble with you parents or whoever you lie to. So the purpose of this story is that lying is bad.
On the other hand "The Lie" can relate to real life because it is realistic. This story is realistic because any kid could lie to their parents. Any kid could not make it into a school. They would all most likely be mad if their dad tried to convince the board to change their mind and forget that you failed the tests and to just let you in… For all of these reasons this story is realistic.
Furthermore "The Lie" was also a realistic story because everything that Eli did any normal kid would probably do the same. The purpose of "The Lie" was to teach kids and adults that lying is bad and it can never lead to something good. So don't lie.

Country Springs...

At Country Springs it was Abby's Birthday Party. She only invited Maija and I. First we went on the water slides. We went on the body slide and as we came down or i should say out of the slide there was a guy there taking our picture it was only our picture he was taking no one else. Then we went on the triple dog dare. As soon as we turned the corner and we were not in site or the life guard we all stood up and switched seats so i climbed to the front from the back Abby climbed from front to the middle and Maija climbed from the middle to the back it was fun. the second time we went on it we stood up and surfed on it. Then we went on the double trouble. you are sitting in a single tube as the lifeguard pushes you down. then you start to spin and take a dip and turn and spin until you are coming out of the water slide into the lazy river backwards. Then we went on the rope coarse thing and we had a race to see who could get across faster the hard part was that you can try and push each other off. Next we went on the little kids playground water area where we sat there filling up buckets of water and waiting for a kid or anemone to walk past so we can dump it on them. Later on we went to get lunch and a milkshake while we were waiting in line we got bored so we started to sing. we were i guess it sounded really good because this guy comes up and says are you guys a quartet? we just stood there and laughed. Then he said well whats your group called? we laughed and were trying to think of something really fast because we never had or thought of a name so i was like uh The Three Girls. he laughed and was like ok... Then he was like so do you guys need a manager and we all laughed. So we got our shakes ate lunch and went into the hot tub. we saw him again and said hi. He was like what your not singing any more. we smiled and said were relaxing now... He smiled back and walked away he was a really nice guy. So that was our day at country springs.

Mystery Person

I cant explain what I feel inside. When I see you or even hear your name I get butterflies. One day I hope to meet you. You are my ispiration. I Love You...

Pablo Picasso by Kayla Kogod

Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881. He did lots of Art work such as Still Life with Cat and Lobster, The Bathers, Fruit Bowl and Guitar and so many more. He had been cutting sculptural objects together, using paper or cardboard, and then painting or drawing over them. He did a lot of abstract art work/paintings/sculptures. I find him very creative and I love all of his work. Some interesting facts about Pablo Picasso is that his is one of the world's best known painters. He has produced many famous paintings and even helped usher in a new style of painting known as cubism. Picasso's father was also a painter, as well an art professor. This would influence Picasso as he grew up. In 1895, when Picasso was a teenager, his seven-year-old sister died from diphtheria. It was a traumatic event that would also influence his later work. His aptly named Rose Period took place between 1905 and 1906, during which the artist used many pink tones and often created circus scenes. one of my favorite quotes by Pablo Picasso is Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotion.

Mothers day is a day to be with your mom it is a day to thank her for every thing she has done. She has worked so hard all her life to get you where you are today. On mothers day you are supposed to spend time with her. Tell her that you love her. Get her some flowers and a big hug. Bring her coffee in bed. Do nice things for her. Mothers Day is the relaxing day for our moms. To give back to them and let them know that you are thanking them and returning the favor. Alot Can Happen At A Justin Bieber Concert!!

Today is July 27. I am at the Justin Bieber concert. I am in section 4 seat 28. I’m pretty close to the stage. Justin likes to pull cute girls up on stage so I have heard. The concert has begun he is starting off with his new single Baby. I say to Adriana,

"What if he pulls me up on stage?"

"You would be the luckiest girl ever and that would be so cool!"

The concert continues and Justin starts to look. He looks at me and smiles. He calls his body guard over and points to me and says " The girl over there like 7 rows back with the brown hair." His body guard understood and headed my way I was so excited. He says to me that I have been requested on stage for the song first dance a slow song. I walk up with him as the crowed parts in two He lifted me on the stage. Justin walks over to me as he puts a head set on. Justin raps his arms around my waits and I rest mine on his shoulders. the song started we are slow dancing in front of like 3,000 people not weird at all. I just enjoyed the moment. When the song was over he had asked me to wait back stage he would like to talk to me. So I did. After the concert he came backstage to find me waiting there as I did. He gave me a hug and said...
"Hi I’m Justin."

"Hi I’m Kayla."

"Thank you for that dance I appreciated you coming up and dancing in front of all of those people. It meant allot to me."

"It was fun I just enjoyed the moment. I am so happy you chose me."

"Well how could I not you caught my eye. You are the most beautiful girl in the crowed."

"Aww thank you."

"Your welcome."

He smiles and stares into my eyes. It was quiet for a moment.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

" I don’t know. I think I like you."

" I know I like you. I just don’t know that much about you. You never know if what the magazines say are true or not. I mean some say your birthday is March 1 and others say that it is March 16. They confuse there readers."

" Ha Ha Ha, Its March 16. And I don’t know you that well either. I want to geet to know you more and I would like to ask you out so... Here is goes. Kayla will you go out with me?"

"Yeah of course I will and not because you are famous because I really like you and want to get to know you more."

"Cool so say tomorrow I'll pick you up at 7:00 ok"

"Ok 7:00"

He smiles and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

" I have to go but here is my number. 262-123-4567"

" Ok thanks here’s mine. 301-891-2345"

"Ok see you tomorrow"

"Bye"

"Bye"

I go home and tell my mom what had just happened to me. She does not believe it. She is excited for me. I wake up it is July 28 and I cant wait for tonight I am not sure what to wear but I am going to be my self.

It is 6:30 I am getting ready. I am wearing blue jeans and a cute top, My hair is down and I am all ready to go it is 6:57 he should be here any minuet. My mom gives me a hug and says good luck. I said...

"Thanks mom but I wont need it I am just going to be my self."

The doorbell rang its Justin!! I open the door and there he is in blue jeans and a cute button down dress shirt. We leave to go on our date it is a picnic on the beach with candles lit around us... It is beautiful. The date went lovely. It turns out that I am falling for Justin and he is falling for me before he drops me off at my house he says that he had a great time. I mentioned that I have a school dance tomorrow but I don’t have a date and I planed on just watching from upstairs.

I wake up the next morning picking out a cute outfit for the dance I have to leave in 4 hours. it took me an hour to find something then I ate lunch, showered and brushed my teeth I did my hair and it was time for me to go. It was 30 minutes in to the dance and every one rushes over to the door and starts screaming. the next thing I know someone taped me on the shoulder. It was Justin he starts singing his song "One Time" but from the part "Girl i love Girl ii love girl I love you let me tell you one time." He finished the song and pulled out a basket from behind him in it was some chocolate covered strawberries and some flowers. He said...

"I missed you, and I wanted to be with you. I also could not let you stand here alone just watching with out your date so I knew I had to come because you are my date.

We ate the strawberries with everyone watching. Then we slow danced and just danced. It was a great night. He said that he will see me tomorrow and to have a good night he dropped me off at home and gave me a hug good bye... He ha told me to call him later. Now we are still going out and together today.

The Trip To The Mall

Today is a beautiful day the sun is out and shining. I am going to the mall today with my friends at 1:00 PM. It is 12:30 I am eating lunch. I can’t wait!! I have a few questions roaming threw my head. What should I wear? What will I buy? Where should we go first? It is 1:00 and I am on my way to the mall. As we pulled into the mall I saw all of my friends outside waiting for me. My mom says
“I will be back around 4:00 so be ready"
I said "ok mom I will be here at 4:00 on the dot".
We walk in the mall and none of us know where we want to go so we just started walking if we saw a store we like we would go in. So we went into American Eagle first. It was really crowded. So we decided to say together threw out the store. Everyone bought a pair of sweat pants and jeans. Next we went into Aeropostale. It was twice as crowed and American Eagle. I walked in and all of the sudden a hand is placed over my mouth and I was lifted off the ground by two teenage boys. I try to scream for help but no one can hear me because their hand is still over my mouth. For as crowed as the mall is no one resizes that if am being kidnapped. We get out side of the mall and they put me inside of a car.
I screamed “Please! Ple-e-e-ease! Please Let Me Out Go!!!”
All they did was laugh. I was in a car with four teenage boys. I was scared. I knew I had my cell phone on me but I did not want them to see me with it and take it because that was my only way of getting help. So I just sat there in silence until we pulled into an old rundown scary place. All I thought was I'm scared. They pulled me out of the car and told me to fallow. I knew I could not run because they were probably faster than me and I did not know where I was. So I did not move I don’t want to go anywhere with them. They looked back in anger. Two of the four came back and carried me into the building. It was a cold and dark area.
I asked them one question "What are you going to do with me"?
They looked at each other and smiled they all said “nothing.”
I was confused.
They explained "We are going to keep you here in a room until we figure that out. “
They put me in a room that has all glass walls so they could see me at all times. All I could think of is how am I going to call my mom and let her know where I am and to get help. So I started to text her.
I said "That I was kidnapped at the mall I need help I don’t know where I am so call the police. Get help". She responded don’t worry we will find you. The police tracked my phone and in a few hours they found me. They boys were arrested and I was safe. I called my friends and told them what had happened to me and that I am ok now. They were all relived that I was ok. That was the last time I went to the mall without an adult.

The Foggy Night

I went out to dinner with my family last night. Then we went back to my moms boy-friends house. I went in his car with Jeremy, Joey, Jacob, and Phil. It was a dark foggy night. We were on our way home from Denny’s and we could barely see three feet in front of us. It got worse and worse as we kept driving. Phil is low on gas. We are praying that we will get home be for we run out.

Tow miles later we come down to a slow stop. A few minuets later we here three loud Bangs. We are all petrified. We have a swamp to our right and woods to our left, we are the only car on the road. No one in the car wants to move. The loud bang sounded like a gun. Phil rolls down his window and peeks out slowly to see if he can see any thing. He could only see a little due to how thick the fog was. He saw a shadow or something laying on the ground in front of the car and he saw little red spots splattered around it. He rolls up his window and starts to call the cops. First he explains that his car ran out of gas and he needs a tow truck and the he explains what we heard and what he had saw on the ground.

Ten minuets later the cops, Fire truck and ambulance arrived. The cops told us that is was a god thing that we did not get out of the car and try and push it or walk home because someone had gotten shot and killed in front of our car and we could only hear it because of the fog. When we got home we told my mom what had happened. She was a little scared at first. Then she said that she is just glad that every thing is ok.

Maija B.

When I first moved here. I had sat at the lunch table watching Maija. The only thought that went through my head was that I truly wanted be friends with her. A few weeks later cheerleading had started and we started talking and we became friends. Now from that day on we have been having sleepovers and just hanging out almost every weekend. Today she is my best friend.

The Third Level

“The Third Level”
Imagine being in a world where no one believes you. In the story “The Third Level” Charlie, the main character, found the third level at the Grand Central Station. This story This story is a romance that takes place in 1894.This story teaches and important lesson and this story reminds me of a story I heard about the Kramer family.
“The Third Level” is a romance. It starts off with his mild conflict and having no one believe him that there is a third level. When he tries to go and find it again he cant. He says he wants to escape and go home to his wife. The life affirming symbol is that when he is going threw a box of stamps he comes across a letter from his friend Sam who was also his psychiatrist. The letter said that he (Sam) found the third level. So his friend/psychiatrist believes him.

In the story “The Third Level” no one believes Charlie that he had found the third level. Due to no one believing him, he just wanted to escape. He wanted to go home to his wife. The lesson learned is that you don’t need to escape, You know what you saw. Like when some one does not believe me that I saw something or some one do something I get frustrated but I have no proof to prove it. I think that is how Charlie felt in the story.

This story reminds me of the Kramer family’s story that I heard from my teacher Mrs. Reagles. In the Kramer’s story they have seven kids. They rented to live in an old house that has the staircase to the attic in the closet. All the time the kids would go up there and put on old clothes they found or play with cool things they would find up there. When they moved out the owner remodeled the place put in new wall’s new siding on the house new windows etcetera. The owner invited the Kramer family back to see what he had done. All of the kids wanted to see what he did to the attic. When they opened the closet door there was no stair case it was all dry wall. They went back down stairs and said where is the attic? The owner was like what attic there is no attic. So if there was no attic where did they go. That is my main question. In the story “The Third Level” Charlie found a third level to the Grand Central Station. No one believed him just like the Kramer family no one believed them that there was an attic. When Charlie went to find the third level again he could not find it. Just like when the owner invited the Kramer family back they could not find the attic. So this story “The Third Level” reminded me of the Kramer family’s story I had heard.
This story “The Third Level” is a romance with an important lesson. Over all in this story I have learned that you don’t need to escape from something you know you saw.

My First Boy-Friend

I was in third grade and I liked a guy named Cory. Cory played football. He has caramel colored hair and puppy brown eyes. I hung out and talked with him often, and he always sat next to me at the lunch table. We also had a ton in common. I didn’t think he liked me more than a friend. A week or two later he asked me at lunch, “Do you like me like, like like me?” I answered, “Yes”, and smiled. I went and told my best friend. She got jealous because she liked him to.
Anyway Cory and I went down town that weekend for a taco. We went out all year. In forth grade we were still going out. Except I moved to Mount Airy, Which is 30 minutes away from him, but we still went out. Three weeks after my move we went to a fancy restaurant called Hustons. My mom and dad came along too. They seated Cory and I first. We sat in our own booth three booths away from my parents. We played paper football at the table with the paper that was around the napkin. After that we went and got ice cream and brought him home. In fifth grade I moved to Wisconsin. We both knew that long distance relationships don’t work so well, we broke up even though we both did not want to. We are still; friends today.
He found me on facebook and we exchanged phone numbers. We text and talk a lot now. I saw him when I visited last year. The funny thing today is that he has a girl-friend and I have a boy-friend, but his girl -friends name is Kayla. I find that funny.

Alone

It was a cold, dark, rainy night. I was sitting on a bench in a park alone as the rain poured down on me. I was cold and scared as if something or some one were to jump out at me. I always wondered why I don’t have a home and where is my family?… Do I even have one? Those are the questions that run through my head every night.

The next thing I see is a car driving by then another and another. All of a sudden a car comes speeding down the road it is losing control it is spinning It is moving to fast I did not have enough time to move CRASH‼ Every thing went black, I hear loud sirens.

The next thing I know I am in a hospital with a broken arm. The doctor walks in.

“Oh good you’re up” she says.

I ask her “Why am I here and what happened?”

“You got hit by a car.”

“Well what am wrong with me why am I here?”

Another doctor walks in and says to me.

“You broke your arm from the car crash, and you are still here because you have been out side in the cold for so long with no where to go that you have gotten sick and we are researching it because we don’t know what this is, and if we were to let you go and check out of this hospital you would not survive.”

“But wait I have a question.”

“What would that be?” Asks the doctor

“Do I have a family?”

The doctor sighs “You had a family at one point I am very sorry but they have all passed away.” I start to cry and can’t stop I ask

“Well where will I go and what will I do?”

“We are not sure yet but for now here. You will stay here. You are not well. Now get some rest.”

I wake up to a bunch of rushing doctors and I am in a lot of pain. I see blood and pointy tools. A nurse puts a needle into my arm. Every thing became blurry I had fallen a sleep. An hour later I wake up in my room again the doctors say that when I was sleeping they found out what was wrong I had hypothermia. What is that? Hypothermia is when you body tempter drops from being out side in the cold to long. Which led to us having to amputate you’re your leg. “WHAT!” we were rushing because you woke up. So our nurse gave you anesthea so you would not feel any thing and so you could not see anything.

“So is that it I am done?”

“Yes, But you will continue to stay here because you are unable to walk and you have nowhere to go and have no one to take care of you so we will.”

I could not believe that in one day I was hit by a car, rushed to the hospital, broke an arm, got hypothermia, had my leg amputated and found out that all of my family passed away and yet I am sitting here alive and alone. I wonder what was wrong with the driver. And who was it? Are they ok? How did all of my family die? Now those are the new questions that run through my head every night as I sit here in the hospital alone.
